Real Weddings: Wilmary Soto and Stefan P. Guignet
Happy Wedding Wednesday my Loves!
Today's gorgeous wedding will leave you breathless! Not only are the bride and groom stunning...I mean, they could be models, but the location will leave you wanting to book your next vacation ASAP.
Wilmary and Stefan met 6 years ago when they both started their professional careers at PricewaterhouseCoopers in NYC. What started as a weekly office happy hour, became the perfect place for them to get to know each other and after a few weeks, they were officially dating.
After 3 years of dating in the city that never sleeps and bonding over a shared loved of travel and all things NYC, Stefan knew it was time to propose. Originally he planned on popping the question in NYC, the city where they fell in love, but a friends wedding in Italy gave him the perfect location for a dream proposal. After an afternoon stroll in Capri, Stefan planned a surprise candlelight dinner on their private balcony. Needless to say as soon as they walked in Wilmary knew what would happen next, and the rest is history.
Choosing the perfect location for the bride and groom was very important. They both come from different cultural backgrounds and they wanted to ensure that their families could blend perfectly and enjoy the weekend. They decided to get married in the bride's home island, but still make it a vacation for everyone.
From the Bride...We knew we wanted to do a destination wedding since our families were so far apart in distance. Originally, we shied away from a wedding in San Juan because most of my family was already there so it wouldn’t feel special enough for us. We looked at most of the hotels in the Caribbean and even Mexico. Stefan was actually the one that proposed the W Retreat & Spa in Vieques. I thought it was a fantastic idea since it would be a destination for my family as well without incurring in flights.
The whole weekend felt surreal. On Thursday night at the welcome reception, Stefan and I looked at each other and we couldn’t believe our eyes. We were at the most beautiful candlelit beach surrounded by our loved one. It was magical to see his family and my family having fun together despite of the very different cultural background and not the mention the language challenges. By the wedding day, everyone felt like family and it was truly the most wonderful time of our lives.
