The weekend is over, I know, what a bummer! But we have a pretty wedding to help you get rid of the Monday blues. Melissa and Eric met in Illinois while both studying for their masters, on a causal night out and mutual friend introduced them, and even though sparks didn't immediately fly for Melissa, Eric knew he had met the one.

When it came time to popping the question, Eric wanted to do things the right way, so while in Puerto Rico for Christmas, he asked Melissa's dad for her hand in marriage, he even managed to ask in Spanish! Funny enough, Melissa's dad immediately went and told her the news, not knowing that this was supposed to be a secret. Eric still wanted to make the proposal extra special and during their visit to La Cueva del Indio in Arecibo, while they were alone, he got down on one knee and asked Melissa to become his wife. She obviously already knew her answer!

Designing the wedding was a special process for Melissa, she is an architect, and every element of the big day was a reflection of her style.

From the Bride...I took a lot of time to think of what was the overall aesthetic I wanted for the wedding. I wanted everything to have a minimalist and elegant look, but at the same time I wanted the beauty of my island to be represented. I fell in love with some geometric pieces my decorator Lorraine had. I loved the contrast of the abstract with the softness of the flowers. Our venue has windows all around and you can see the ocean, so I choose white and metallics as our colors, this way the blue in the ocean would pop.

The big day was perfect from beginning to end. From the romantic letter Eric wrote for Melissa that morning, to the specially selected ceremony by her brother (he is the Director of the choir that performed), to the perfect designed cake, which was a surprise from the maid of honor, Melissa and Eric could not have asked for a better day. Getting to join their lives, and promise each other love and loyalty for eternity, is something words can't describe. Therefore we will let the photos do the talking.
