Engagement Wednesday: Jillian Murphy and Jack Hill

Photo by: Orlando Negron We are in love with today's couple, I mean they are simply the cutest! Let's just start with the obvious, her name is Jill, his is Jack and his last name is Hill! Is this couple straight from a story book or what?! When you read their story you will be convinced that they are. At first when Jill sent us their love story we actually teared up and were trying to come up with the best way to do this write up and do the story justice. We decided it would be too hard and would let Jill tell you how she and Jack fell in love. Grab your drink of choice, sit down, relax and enjoy the show...

From the Bride...We met at a mutual friend's Christmas Party in 2010. I remember I didn't feel like going because I was exhausted from a week of holiday cocktail parties, and I wasn't looking forward to going alone. But I got dressed up in my favorite party shorts (yes, shorts!) and heels, and had a great time dancing with my girlfriends from college. Later that evening, a group of people arrived from another party in quite the festive mood, and all decked out. I was still dancing, and Jack came over and asked me who I was. I told him my name, and we laughed because his name was Jack, and I was Jill... and his last name was Hill. After telling me how gorgeous I was, and getting my number, he left.

He texted me first thing the next morning, and then called to ask me to another Christmas party the following weekend. We went on our first date that next weekend -- drinking champagne, and sharing tapas at Barcelona restaurant in New Haven, CT, and then he took me to his friend's Christmas party. Turns out this wasn't a casual party, it was his best friend's family's party that he had gone to every year... even bar tending through high school and college. As soon as we walked in, everyone was asking how long we had been together, how we met, on and on. I had to explain that we had just met, and this was our first date. (And it was definitely the best first date ever!)

That party was on December 23rd, and we were pretty much inseparable from that day on. He showed up at my house on Christmas bearing gifts from the convenience store, the only place open -- blueberry muffin mix, Chapstick, Hershey's cocoa, and other random things -- and we joke that he never left again. We got snowed in together, spent New Years Eve with my friends, and planned a trip to Puerto Rico for Valentine's Day -- coming home with a rescue dog before we even lived together.

Jack proposed four years later, to the day, before that very same Christmas party. As I pulled in the driveway, I immediately knew something was up because he was never home from work before me. When I came in the house, I saw a bottle of Veuve Clicquot on the counter (already opened!), and he pulled me into the living room and in front of the Christmas tree, and got down on one knee. It was perfect -- and exactly what we both wanted. We celebrated with my parents, my Maid of Honor, and my grandmother, and then went to the Christmas party -- waiting for our friends to notice the ring. It was such a fun night -- and will always be one of my favorite days of the year.
To give this story the perfect ending, Jack and Jill will be getting married next Valentine's Day in the same place were they spent their first one, Puerto Rico.
